“The ability to set your own pace gives you tremendous freedom.
The course allows you to discover many things, not just those related
to diet. It turned out to meet my needs perfectly.” – Nick
Edmonds, Nutritional Therapy |
Nick Edmonds is 55 and lives in Cheshire, UK. Now a Nutritional Therapy
student, having retired from a 30 year career in computing, he lives with
his wife of 33 years and son.
"I wanted to know why my type 2 diabetes, although very serious, was
completely manageable by diet,” says Nick. “After two years
of fruitless research, I decided I needed a course and found Kevala on the
internet.”
“The Kevala Nutritional Therapy Diploma course was easily the most
competitive and seemed to be exactly what I was looking for. It turned
out to meet my needs perfectly.
“I really feel my course has enlightened me in many ways - from
the books it recommends, to the way it guides you down avenues where you
can make great discoveries. The ability to set your own pace gives you
tremendous freedom.”
Nick has an ambition to one day enlighten the world to what food can
do for them. “Until then, I hope to set up as an independent Nutritional
Therapist helping people to improve or recover their health through nutrition,”
he adds.
“The diet I use to manage my diabetes is not the one recommended
by all of the diabetic institutions - in fact, far from it,” says
Nick, who also points out: “The course allows you to discover many
things, not just those related to diet.”

“Kevala works for me as it has a good mixture of distance learning
and also workshop weekends.” – Laura Sturdy, Aromatherapy
& Reflexology |
Laura Sturdy is 24 and lives in Kent. An Aromatherapy and Reflexology student,
she already runs a successful mobile therapy business.
“I tried many different jobs until I realised that complementary
therapies were the way for me, and in 2006 completed courses in Crystal
Healing and Colour Therapy,” says Laura. “I have just finished
a course in Indian Head Massage and decided that I wanted to broaden my
studies and explore different therapies.”
“I discovered Kevala through Google when I was looking for courses
in Aromatherapy and Reflexology. I was looking for a school that ran recognised
courses but on a distance learning programme,” she adds.
“Kevala works for me as it has a good mixture of distance learning
and also workshop weekends. I am really enjoying the courses and find
them to be very in-depth, and really informative. Ideally I would like
to set up a therapy centre or a holistic retreat.”

“I’m very pleased that my work is marked so quickly. I
don't like the Internet and I don't use emails!” – Jean Nunn,
Herbal Studies |
Jean Nunn is 77 and lives in Devon, UK. A Herbal Studies student, she is
'retired' with a background in biology and enjoys gardening and travelling.
"After completing courses in environmental studies and Feng Shui, I
wanted something to keep my brain going, something with a scientific aspect,"
says Jean. "By chance, I was visiting my osteopath and noticed a Kevala
leaflet."
"I wanted something new and I'm enjoying the herbal studies course.
I don't want to practice professionally; it's for my self and my students.
I'm very pleased that my work is marked so quickly and that I can do a lot
of investigation around the subject for myself."
"I don't like the Internet and I don't use emails (Jean submits her
work by post). Anyone can put information up on the web and I want knowledge
and information that I can trust."

My advice to others considering changing careers, or wanting to start
something new, is - go for it, be positive, you become what you meditate
upon!” - Dawn Ireland, Iridology student & Natural Product Making
tutor |
|
Dawn Ireland describes herself as “a 43 year-old vegan married female,
with no kids, 3 cats and two allotments to organise.”
Growing mostly herbs, fruit and vegetables, organically of course, she
has made her own natural toiletries and cosmetics, avoiding chemicals,
artificial ingredients and vegan, for many years.
“I spent nearly 20 years working in offices and being bored and
stifled but not knowing what else I could do,” says Dawn. “One
day my sister said I should look into training in complementary therapies.
I first did a basic herbalism diploma by distance learning, then a herbal
horticulture and botany diploma.”
“I perfected a few handmade toiletries, had them safety tested
by a lab and began selling them in my local health food shop under the
trade name of Green Wych,” adds Dawn.
“I realised there were lots of people who wanted to make their
own products too, so I began a series of short practical workshops teaching
others how to do it. They became quite popular and I expanded them to
include soap-making, toiletries, household cleaning products and basic
herbal remedies.”
Soon after, Dawn discovered iridology and decided she wanted to learn
more about this fascinating subject and time-honoured diagnostic tool.
She searched on the internet and found a course run by Devon-based holistic
therapy school Kevala.

“The course has transformed my thinking, made me braver, more
positive and less fearful about making changes” – Claire Morrissey,
Holistic Stress Management student who has started a new business having
studied with Kevala. |
|
Claire Morrissey, 35, lives in London and is a Holistic Stress Management
student.
“I was in a very stressful time in a previous job and did some
internet searching around the word ‘stress’, looking for information
on the subject as I knew I needed help,” says Claire.
“The course is amazing as it exposes you to such a wide variety
of thinking and experiences regarding health and well-being. I have found
it invaluable, bearing in mind I've been in high-stress business roles
involving management and frequent global travel. This is just what I've
been looking for,” she adds.
“The course has inspired me to follow my passion and launch my
own business, which is a luxury ethical shopping website - www.nocows.com
– which I launched in on 1st Feb 2007, my birthday.”
Claire intends to incorporate her stress management studies somehow into
her business, “although exactly how I will do this I have yet to
figure out,” she tells us.
Particularly interested in the meditation, yoga and NLP (Neuro-linguistic
Programming), Claire says the course has introduced her to subjects and
authors that have “transformed my thinking, made me braver, more
positive and less fearful about making changes”.
