Working together: Iridology and Flower remedies

by Jackie Day

Those readers who are practitioners will know that if you get your questions right when taking a client’s case history, you should be able to effectively treat the presenting symptoms. Those who have gifts of telepathy and deep intuition may be able to see deeper than the answers given by the client and may be able to uncover issues the client may not be revealing to you. But what about the rest of us, those among us who were not blessed with such gifts; is there any foolproof way we can see what may be going on behind the scene?

The answer is yes. The answer is Iridology – the science of iris analysis. You may wonder where Iridology and Bach Flower Remedies fit together - hopefully that will become clear. Briefly, an iris analysis reveals the inherent constitution of the individual. It tells us the strengths and weaknesses of all organs and systems of the body and predispositions to certain health issues e.g. digestive disorders, circulatory problems, disorders of the endocrine glands. Flower essences may not be the prime therapy for some of these physical issues but the iris also reveals information about the individual’s personality traits and the nervous system and this, of course, is where flower essences can come into their own.

Let’s take a look at just a few of the signs revealed by the iris in conjunction with Bach remedies. Individuals with what is known as a Neurogenic Sensitive constitution are likely to be generally assertive and industrious, tenaciously pursuing tasks and giving 110% of themselves but their inherently sensitive nervous system may be unable to take the physical demands put upon in. If things go wrong, the overtaxed nervous system can lead to exhaustion, breakdown and organ disorders such as ulcers, headaches, skin problems. Frequently these individuals try not to admit to others and themselves that they’re prone to overworking but you can see the predisposition in the iris. You might think of Olive, which is ideal after long periods of strain or overwork; Oak is great for over-achievers, who will work but ignore tiredness.

Another iris sign suggests an individual may be highly sensitive with regard to issues such as injustice or the environment; they may work tirelessly for causes and here you’d think of the remedy Vervain. The fact that this individual came to you because of problems such as poor resistance to infections would not necessarily lead you towards Vervain but the iris will point you in the right direction.

And then there are the individuals who come along with say digestive problems. They grumble that they’ve done the rounds and tried a number of therapies but nothing seemingly works. The iris tells you these people try to suppress symptoms, thinking of their family, the community or the world before themselves; they can be resigned to their situation and resistant to changes. Their main weakness lies in ignoring the needs of the body and not taking care of it until something serious manifests. Does this suggest Wild Rose or Agrimony?

These are just a few of the iris signs that act as pointers to the nervous system but from them you can see how two entirely different disciplines, Iridology and Flower Essences, can work together.
